Player of the Month will return shortly

Closed for the Summer

The club will be closing down at both venues for the month of August.

This is common practise as numbers drop throughout the summer holidays resulting in us

not being able to cover hire costs.

It also gives the coaching staff a chance to recharge their batteries and bodies after a long and physically demanding year of training.  Especially for Phil who spent a lot of time in training for the World Masters.

We re-open at Penyrheol on Sept 6th and at St Michaels on Sept 8th.

Enjoy your summer break and see you all in September

North Wales Closed Championships

Congratulations to Harry Viggers on winning a gold medal in the boys -34kg at the recent North Wales championships. He won most of most of his fights with ippon and won by waza-ari in the final. He showed good judo and deserves a big well done from all at Imperial judo.

British Schools Championships

Congratulations to Lauren Craven on winning a silver medal at the recent British Schools Championships. Lauren had to move up a weight on the day and ended up fighting girls who were taller and heavier ,making her medal win even better.

Well done Lauren from all at Imperial judo.

Welsh Closed Judo Championships 2008

Imperial Judo club junior members had an excellent day at the recent Welsh closed championships and they all represented the club admirably on and off the mat.

Harry Viggers won a gold medal in the boys u34kgs after fighting extremely well all day. Gareth Thomas won a bronze medal in the boys u38kgs and a special mention must go to Max Humphreys who moved up a weight on the day and won a bronze medal in the boys u34kgs.

All coaches and members of the Imperial Judo club are extremely proud of the way that these young members fought and behaved on the day of the competition.

In the senior section Rob Randal won a silver medal in the men's u81kgs division. It was Robs first time entering the Welsh closed as a senior and he beat some good players to win his medal. His judo just keeps getting better and better.

Well done all.
