Ukemi Waza (Breakfalls)

Forward Breakfall - Mae Ukemi

When Break falling, you must remember to use the whole of the lower arm to land, from the tip of your fingers to your elbow, never just use your hand.

   

Forward Rolling - Zenpo Kaiten

Your arm comes down to meet your opposite foot making a big 'O', and than you role up your arm slapping the ground with your free-hand when landing.

   

Backward Breakfall - Ushiro Ukemi

Fall backwards from standing or crouching, and roll up the base of your spine, slapping both arms (finger to elbow) at the side of you.

   

Side Breakfall (Right) - Yoko Ukemi

Sweep your left leg away, and fall the the ground extending your right arm (fingers to elbow) to Breakfall.

   

Side Breakfall (Left) - Yoko Ukemi

Sweep your right leg away, and fall the the ground extending your left arm (fingers to elbow) to Breakfall.
